Spring Makeup Favourites

There's occasionally sun in the sky, some warmth in the air that can only mean that Spring is here in the UK!
I don't know about you but when the warmer months come around I always end up wearing less makeup and also lighter shades. I tend to leave the deeper, darker tones behind along with Winter and find myself gravitating towards pinks, champagne and bronze.

These are the products that I find myself using every-time Spring comes back around!
This year has got to be the 6th year in a row I have used Barry M's Hi Shine Gelly nail varnish in Rose Hip, although I believe it is no longer available and the closest colour is Pink Lemonade. It is probably my favourite colour of all time and is such a lovely light pink, plus when wearing it with a tan it makes you look even more brown!

I've heard many different opinions on Chanel's Tan de Soleil but I have to admit I LOVE it! I just pop it on my cheek bones and temples straight after foundation and my cheekbones look great and I feel more Summery.

You really can't go wrong with a pretty pink blush and this one is just stunning! It's Estee Lauder's blush in Plush Petal, that I actually found at Bicester Village.

For £1 you can't really go wrong with a white eyeliner, but Mua's eyeliner in Snow White is so creamy and pigmented you look instantly awake after use! Now with this I am careful to not use to much as I don't particularly want a massive white line on my water line, so I use it very lightly and it just makes my eyes look bigger and brighter, having the skin tones slight push through.

As I said earlier I just seem to choose more pink tones throughout the Spring and Summer months and that is exactly what I do with my eyeshadow as well as everything else. For some pink eyeshadow shades, lets be honest you can't go wrong with Urban Decay's Naked 3 eyeshadow palette, pigmented, creamy and easy to blend!

Nails of the Week

Not only do I have for you today a beautifully coloured nail polish, it is also UV! *the crowd goes wild* I know I know, however, the only thing is I haven't been able to test it out under any UV light I'm afraid....

This beautiful and might I add, very clever, nail varnish is of course by W7. I do apologise that most of my nail posts appear to involve W7 but from that alone you can see how much I love them!

This gorgeous colour is W7's 111 Dance, and as I said it is advertised to be UV but I don't actually know... But here is the gorgeous nail varnish:

1st Coat: I could almost see a purpley hint to this nail varnish and there's just a look about it that does definitely make you feel like it has a UV effect!

2nd Coat: This is such a gorgeous light, almost icy, blue polish!

This nail varnish has also lasted so long for me considering I have had it on about a week and seriously put it through its paces, and surprisingly, it didn't chip for a long time!

Nails of the Week

Just by looking at this "Nails of the Week" post you can already tell I am fully into Spring and all the vibrant colour it brings.

Once the warm weather appears I definitely start to lean towards brighter and more colourful nails and this post is no exception. I'm not sure why the middle finger nail looks yellow in the first image but it's actually neon orange.

Fake Nails - Boots
Lilac - Barry M - 308 Berry l/c
Neon Pink - W7 - 10 Shocking Pink
Neon Orange - Models Own - Headkandi Beach Party
Mint Green - Barry M - 304 Mint Green

I also changed the mint green and pink on either hand, so one hand has mint green on the pointer finger and pink on the ring finger, but then different on the other hand.

Nails of the Week

Look what I have here, a new "Nails of the Week"!

This time I tried out some fake nails by Elegant Touch, I have tried their fake nails before and loved them and these were no exception. Now it is supposed to be spring here in the UK but as I write this it is absolutely tipping it down with rain, so today we have some navy nails with a twist.

I am all for spicing up your nails and not just having them all be one colour and all the same, so when I saw these accent nails I thought I'd better try them out.

These nails are Elegant Touch's In The Navy Nails and I picked them up from Superdrug for £3.55. These nails actually come with little sticky things to use instead of nail glue, but I always go for Boot's own nail glue as this works incredibly well for me!

These nails are so gorgeous and shiny, plus I love the studded accent nail!

I love these nails, they are such a gorgeous shiny navy colour.

Nails of the Week

I said the next "Nails of the Week" wouldn't be too far away, so here it is, and its a bit more of a creative one this time!

These nails were actually inspired by a picture I saw on pinterest (you can follow me HERE) that I desperately wanted to recreate. I love how the nail look turned out as they're something fun and a bit different. I also think this style could be done with lots of different colour duos e.g. black and white, or even do an ombre triangle or ombre base, in fact I've just thought of that and now really want to try it out!

When I have the patience I like doing things a bit different with my nails, and as I don't have the patience very often I take full advantage when I do have it, and therefore come up with more creative nails!

I created this look you're seeing today by painting my whole nail with Essie's Capri nail varnish, a gorgeous light blue, which enhances any bit of tan you may have! Once Essie's Capri was dry I then applied 2 strips of Sellotape on each nail going diagonally across, corner to corner, so they overlapped at the top, but there is a triangle at the base of the nail, I'm now asking myself why I didn't photograph how I applied the tape but it's easy enough to work out!  Once I had the triangle I then painted it using Essie's Penny Talk. To end of this look just coat the nails with your favourite top coat, could even be a matte top coat depending on your colour combination!

I'm hoping that my "Nails of the Week" posts will become more creative, although I'm not promising anything as I'll have to see if I have the patience!

Nails of the Week featuring Jess

Here we are, another "Nails of the Week"! My blog has been seriously lacking these and for that I apologise, therefore today we have 2 people's nails in this post, mine and Jess's.

Unfortunately, both of the Topshop nail varnishes have now been discontinued but I'm sure there are some very similar ones out there!

First up we have quite spring themed nails I think! Going with a beautiful mint green as the main colour and then as an accent nail there is some blue glitter on the ring finger.

Topshop - Beleza

Next up is bright red nails with silver/multicoloured glitter. The red is a beautiful metallic shade with a very Christmassy name, and then again there's an accent nail on the ring finger, using glitter.

Topshop - Razzmatazz

I will make sure that the next "Nails of the Week" post isn't too far away as I love doing these!

Nail Routine + Nails of the Week

Nails of the Week is back!!! I'm so happy about this, and the fact I can start painting my nails AND be able to blog about nail polishes again! These posts have been missing because of the routine I have with my nails. In the last "Nails of the Week" post you will see my nails were very long and I'll explain how I can do this!

My nail routine is I grow them out, paint them etc until they get into a bad state of being stained from the polish and are splitting at the end. I know that sounds awful, BUT they can get to an extremely long length until this starts happening because what I do once they start splitting is cut them all the way down so they are very short, I then keep cutting them short for a month or so, until I am completely rid of any staining or splitting, once they are nice and healthy again I can begin painting and growing them again!

The colour I have picked for this week is a combination of W7's Nail Polish in 160 Ruby with Ciaté's Snow Globe and a random top coat.

My natural nails.

The nail varnishes.

My painted nails.

It may not look it in the photographs, but in real life this combination made my nail varnish look like gel nails! Also the glitter is so shiny, and actually the flakes are exactly the same as those I showed in my DIY Snow Globe post.

Nails of the Week

Now can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that....my lovely readers.....this is the FIRST nails of the week that I've done that doesn't involve a W7 nail varnish! *GASPS*

This polish is an old favourite of mine from March last year but I have just rediscovered it! The nail varnish in question is Barry M Hi-Shine Gel Nail Polish in Blueberry. I love every thing about this polish, the staying power, colour, the gel feel and the fact it ONLY needs 2 coats! It is such a perfect sky blue polish, I'd say, and has such a shiny effect.

I have quite a few of these Barry M Gel varnishes and love them all. There is an incredible range of colours, all of them perfect and they're £3.99 each!

I also really want to try out Barry M's Matte range so if you have tried any please tell me your thoughts!

Nails of the Week

I decided to do a new Nails of the Week post as these seem to be quite liked on my blog! I would also like to apologise for using yet ANOTHER W7 nail polish but I have fallen in love with a another colour of theirs! I will have a couple of links at the end if you would like to purchase this nail varnish.

Now I would say this is a very Autumn/Winter colour, but the weather has certainly turned cold, rainy and miserable here in England so I'm pretty sure its acceptable! I love Winter and I also love burgundy so I think this was made for me.

The finish of this nail polish is also beautiful, I have had many compliments on it and been asked if it is gel or my nails are acrylics, but no just real nails with a lovely nail polish! The finish of polish actually feels like plastic when its dry on your nails but I personally quite like that!

Nails Of The Week

I really quickly wanted to tell you all about one of my favourite nail polishes. Now if you saw my last "Nails Of The Week" post you may know I am a fan of W7, and so I wanted to share another fabulous one I have from them.

This week is a bronze/rose gold nail varnish that I really like. This varnish is fantastic as it only really needs one thin coat and you're done, however I always like to do two. The second fantastic thing about this varnish is that each layer dries super quick so it is really appealing as I am that impatience person who can't wait for her nails to dry! Although there is one downside to this nail varnish and that is the fact it chips fairly easily, but other than that I really love it!

This picture is actually with 2 coats, but both pictures looked exactly the same as it really does look this good with one coat.
